The 25 Days of Christmas Posts: Day Sixteen For Your Holiday Party

If you're sick of eggnog and not so sure about hot buttered rum but still looking for a holiday drink then we have just the thing for you!

A Tom & Jerry is a Christmas drink created in the 1850s at the Planters' House hotel in St. Louis. The creator was a man name Jerry Thomas, "The Father of American Mixology", named for his work spreading cocktail culture across the country. While similar to Eggnog, a Tom & Jerry uses milk instead of heavy cream and calls for Jamaican rum as well as Brandy. It was a very popular holiday drink until the 1960s but 50 years later we think it might be time to bring it back! Click here for a recipe from Serious Eats.

Our Tom & Jerry set comes with everything shown in the photo above. The punch bowl is 11" across and 5" tall while the cups stand a little over 3" tall. The set can be purchased for $48 at our store, Hide & Seek (click for map)Please feel free to call us at (818) 763-2060 or email us at hideandseekla@gmail.com if you have any questions.

"This hot Tom and Jerry is an old-time drink that is once used by one and all in this country to celebrate Christmas with, and in fact it is once so popular that many people think Christmas is invented only to furnish and excuse for hot Tom and Jerry, although of course this is by no means true." - Dancing Dan's Christmas, 1931

The 25 Days of Christmas Posts: Day Fourteen for the Traveling Fashionista

Train cases are in high demand and it's easy to see why they'd make a great gift!

Now we already know how much I love elegant and practical and this has both in spades. There is nothing better than a vintage suitcase to hide bulky out of season clothes or other odds and ends while also being a nice accent piece in any room. It also acts as a incredibly chic overnight bag and just the perfect thing to schlep larger items around town. It's bright fun color makes it perfect for the trend setter in your life!

This train case has a red exterior and a blue interior that has been kept up and is in great condition. It stands 15.5" tall and is 16.5" across. It is selling for $45 at our store, Hide & Seek (click for map). * Please feel free to call us at (818) 763-2060 or email us at hideandseekla@gmail.com if you have any questions.

The 25 Days of Christmas Posts: Day Thirteen is for the Family

When the family comes together for the holiday it can be hard to get three or more generations interested in the same thing and we're not saying it'll be easy to get the tween in your life interested in a board game that isn't Twilight related but maybe Bingo is just the thing!

This Bingo set is from 1964 and has all it's pieces. It features a Bingo shaker box that ejects one number at a time, a bankers chart, a full pack of Bingo cards and plastic pieces to use as markers so you can use the cards again and again. You'll have to come up with the prizes yourself but a "Team Edward" shirt might be the perfect bribe to get everyone excited!

This is also a great idea for an office party as it becomes a great way to hand out company gifts or secret Santa items in a fun and interactive way. It also makes a great drinking game if you're spending the holidays with friends! Plus, if you're like me, you know a family who collects old board games and would just love to have this one in their set.

You can pick up the Bingo set for $24 at our shop* Hide & Seek (click for map). Please feel free to call us at (818) 763-2060 or email us at hideandseekla@gmail.com if you have any questions.

The 25 Days of Christmas Posts: Day Eleven is All About Presentation

If you've ever been to visit our store you know how much us at Hide & Seek love milkglass and there is no better time of year to pick up a nice milkglass piece. The shimmering white makes a great holiday statement and invokes images of snowy days. One of our most sought after milkglass pieces are cake plates so when we found this one we got really excited! The pierced lace pattern and detailed stand make this quite the show stopper. Fill it with glittery acorns, vintage Christmas bulbs, or whatever sugary dessert you're serving to help turn your home into a winter wonderland! You can even weave red ribbon through the lace pattern to add some neat Christmas color!

This milkglass cake plate also features the pierced lace pattern at the base which can not be seen in the photo above (it's covered in snow!). It can be bought at our store Hide & Seek (click for map) for $52* and is 7 inches tall and 10 inches across. Please feel free to call us at (818) 763-2060 or email us at hideandseekla@gmail.com with any questions you may have.
